While at Megha Sales in Bandra last week, we couldn’t help but notice the Angry Birds speakers that were on display. We didn’t think much of them beyond their novelty value at first. But on shop manager Durgesh’s suggestion, we tested them and boy, do these babies pack a punch!

Manufactured by Gear 4 in collaboration with Rovio Entertainment, the Finnish game developer that created the Angry Birds franchise, the mini speakers are surprisingly good with superb clarity of sound. The mini speakers contain rechargeable lithium ion batteries that provide 8 hours of playback after a 2-hour charge. However, the 3.5mm audio cable is too small for comfort. But if you pick them up at Durgesh’s shop (contact details mentioned below), he will set you up with an extension wire at no extra cost! When we turned up the mini speakers to the highest volume, it was very, very loud. So this is not just a great gifting option for the upcoming festive season but also a great portable device to set up a party wherever you are.

There is also a larger version of the Angry Birds speakers but these are not portable since they need to be connected to a power outlet at all times. But music lovers can rejoice since the speakers come with a subwoofer for bass and you can find the bass control at the back. The large speakers come with a docking station for your iPod, iPhone or iPad.

The Real Reviews team much preferred the smaller version which is portable, rechargeable, comes with a free carry case and is just generally cuter. Would make for a great Christmas gift, we think.
