So when Maybelline’s Lip Smooth Color Changing Color Bloom Pink Blossom turned a pretty pink, sure enough a wide and an extremely surprised grin “blossomed” on my face. “Oh my!! I love this!” was the exact feeling that rushed through me. What I love: Sleek, slender fuchsia pink stick looks trendy and feminine Has a sweet, candy fragrance – thankfully not overpowering SPF 16 to protect the lips Has pro Vitamin E – a natural anti-oxidant Enriched with Jojoba Oil – continuous nourishment Non sticky, greasy or waxy Easily available Shelf life of 3 years What I don’t love: Needs frequent application; moisturizing effect stays for 2-3 hours Repeated application darkens the pink Does not wear off evenly – hint of pink stays Could have been reasonably priced Besides the colour blossoming into a natural pink within seconds of the first swipe, I like that it’s light and non-waxy. For wheatish Indian complexion like mine, getting the right shade of pink without seeming to draw too much attention is crucial. Maybelline’s Pink Blossom has got it just right. It stays on for about 2-3 hours during which my lips have felt moisturized and softer. The hint of pink that continues to stay after the balm wears off is a slight put off but nothing to be overly concerned about. The slender packaging makes it extremely travel-friendly and I’ve often carried it whenever I have changed bags (which I do nearly every day). I think that at Rs.135 this colour changing lip balm is a tad expensive and could become highly popular were it more reasonably priced. Hence the novelty of it wears off easily and I wouldn’t pick it up again. Yes it gives that instant, fresh, fun and revived looks to my lips but so do other lip balms.
