Find Upcycled and Fun Home Décor Stuff at PoppadumArt Pallavi Dhingra August 3, 2013 Home Decor views: 4834 PoppadumArt is a venture by Mumbai-based Saanwari Gorwaney and Samit Malkani who create new, vibrant uses for everyday things. It could be a painted wok transformed into a hanging planter, old bulbs turned into ‘Streetlight Shakers’ – salt and pepper shakers inspired by a streetlight, and a Technicolor JamLamp – lamp made out of jam bottles or kettle planters. And it’s all upcycled. It’s been two years, since Saanwari quit advertising to create ‘colourful, happy things’ at PoppadumArt. “We started with painted bottles but then moved into home décor because when I went out looking for stuff, I could not find anything bright and happy to do up my space with,” she says in this video. Today they sell across stores in Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad, and also through e-commerce sites. They even customize and ship directly. They recently launched the Rewritable Chalkboard T-shirts on which you can scribble on a new message everyday with coloured chalk, wipe it off and re-use it the next.
